JOB DESCRIPTION

Newstead Social is currently on the lookout for an experienced Head Chef to join and lead our dynamic team. We are a fast-paced venue and we need someone with workplace experience in busy kitchen environments to contribute to the success of our establishment. At Newstead Social, we pride ourselves on offering a modern twist to quality pub-style meals.

The successful applicant will also be involved in our exciting new opening sister venue in June/July Portside Social. 

The Role - Head Chef. 

This role is hands on role, not only leading but working alongside your team in delivering meals of a high standard to all of our guests, whilst achieving departmental goals and KPI's.

REQUIREMENTS

Reporting to the Venue Manager, you’ll be part of a small team of genuine people, looking to create lasting memories and exceptional experiences for each and every guest. No day will be the same, but each day you'll strive to:

  • Enforce compliance with standards and procedures outlined in staff operation and induction manuals, ensuring adherence to occupational health and safety guidelines.
  • Be creative in designing and planning a modern Australian cuisine menu. 
  • Oversee the implementation of the Food Safety Plan, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and procedures.
  • Efficiently manage the kitchen team, fostering professionalism and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Possess knowledge of hygiene, food safety, and OH&S standards and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a calm and composed demeanor, excelling in fast-paced environments
  • Manage budgets to ensure payroll, expenses and food cost centers align with the business financial targets.
  • Implement effective kitchen management processes to minimize food wastage through good kitchen management processes, such as labelling and mise en place par levels etc.
